Ghoton Tabela

Day 3 Treking
Yesterday Boyd and I floundered. The food is so expensive  in comparison to Kathmandu.  ( 450 rps for Dahl Baht ; 95 for a cup of tea.) We were so worried about running out of money that while we were cajoling our children up the 700m climb over 4kms we neglected to feed ourselves , got hungry and grumpy. That night we settled on a plan.:  turn around when  we got half way through the money plus only one cup of tea a day ( eat more and drink less). Plus we started ordering extra food at breakfast and put it in our trusty Tupperware box for the day to snack on .... Magic!
Into the flow of trekking today. Last night we stayed in a tiny guest house on the side of a cliff. Chi May delighted Tara and Luke with his majic tricks  and they spent a happy hour making pencils wobble and warming up magic to move (blow) a pen across the table as if by " magic" " look at this magic! "
This morning as we started walking Lukey didn't want to leave  his "magic" guest house and Tara got a 100rps discount on the bill  to put in her pocket. So the day started with a smile.  The children have got the hang of the hazards on the path. They walk on the bank side of the path holding our hands to avoid the precipoutous drop on the other, swapping sides as we zig zag up the path. They both throw themselves eagerly at the bank at the call of " Donkey!" Lukey likes to get out of the way of the porters with their enormous 60kg loads and shouts "big load!" and jumps onto the bank when he sees them. I have started carrying Lukey a lot more which speeds up progress and  it seems that Tara is powered by stories. Boyd is fabricating a story aboutthe discovery of Velcro. He told it for 6 hours yesterday and she walked happily the whole way.
This afternoon we have arrived in Ghoton Tabela 3000m . The path has opened up an we are no longer in the bottom of a V but walking on the flat basin of a glacial valley. There are Yaks and real yak milk. The air is icy... It feels like winter !!!.

I couldn't get enough of the river! endless grade 4+ 5

for some reason the kids wanted to carry rocks on the walk. ?????

The rover was stunning the whole way and with such gradient made for stunning rapids every inch!

Donkeys returning empty from the trek, they did the whole trek in 1 day from dawn till dusk.

Even with so much hiking given the chance Luke and Tara still wanted to run around!

This part is steeper than the photo shows, we went in single row carefully making each step.
