We are off!

We did it. At the airport on time with passports.  I thought I would feel excited at this point not a sadness of leaving our home fpr the next 12 months.  Hard to believe we have the entire family belongings in onw bag weighing less than 17 kg.

2 Days Prior to Departure

The high point of today was boogieing to Ani Di Franco turned up REALLY LOUD , catching  up with 10 years of  funcky-agro-girl-punk AND removing 5 years of greasy-slimy-family-scum from my kitchen shelves :-)

The low point was excavating the vans right front tire from 3 bags of broken recycling after  accelerating off the curve over the rubbish put out for the truck , in a rush to drop Tara at her play date.

Its been a tough 10 days. We had been congratulating ourselves on our  great organization when we were all struck down by a bug.  Boyd was floored first by a crook back and then finished off with a feaver and headache. I followed lying prone in bed with my eyes closed quietly groaning whilst the children fetched me fruit  and wheatbags and kissed me carefully on the forehead and sinuses . The next day the kids joined us with headaches and feavers and we got to try out our medical kit freshly organized for the trip. By day 5 Boyd was hobbling about  looking woozily at jobs and collapsing into back agony with every coughing fit. I was totally recovered but handicapped by a very sad little two year old needing 24 hour boobie.

THANK GOODNESS for Grandma and Grandpa !!! And Thankyou to Kelly for looking after my little girl dispute her own sick family :-)
