Ruaraidh and Veras Hand fasting Wedding

The forecast was for Scottish cold rain what ever that is exactly, we hoped for the best with the warm sun and hail while getting the tent up. We call that a sun shower back home but hail in sun light ? I didn't really know the couple getting married other than it was a self catered vegan party with a strong connection to findhorn a local community respected around the world. I was braced for hippie central and ready for the cold bite of Scotland.

As we arrived at the site of the ceremony in the grounds of another castle (they have a few) the various other guests arrived in modern cars to rentals to vans with complete fire place in the back and surfboards in the window beside the trusted mandatory Dog.

We walked off away from the castle into the bush to find a sun drenched spot only found in between chapters of one of J R R Tolkien's novels. The music started a lone piper and two well dressed people arrived in bare feet. I looked twice for the film crew and some goblins to run past in full armer.
The guests seemed almost has happy as the couple when it came to joining in some singing and speaking to the four corners of the compass. This was an "earth ceremony"and I cried the whole way through.

It was a lovely wholesome ceremony lacking any taky tradition of some religious past. It was true to them.

Next the party in a marquee complete with ceilidh dancing which warmed up the tent. Tara learned everyone in her own way and made me dance with her hyper actively.  Luke soon past out while
Rissa caught up on her old friends.  Who was seeing who and who wasn't.

An entrance with bare feet. Respect

The children turned Heathers van into a complete playground. No adults allowed.

We drove off the next day into the snow!
