Life is all about contrasts:-) Nepal vs Goa

NEPAL.                                                                                                                                 GOA

Christmas Day

We travelled from our home in the mountains to Kathmandu on Christmas eve so that we could Skype with Family on Christmas Day
The bus trip left us glassey eyed and scrambled. The weather was a cool 1 degree over night. The family huddled together in bed to keep warm and Lukey woke us all by spewing all over us and the bed .  So we were left a little glum on Christmas day morning.
We soon cheered up with pancakes and pressies over breakfast. Then searched for an exciting resterant  serving a dodgy cold chicken sandwhich for lunch where we could take roof top photos of the family for Facebook.
The Boudhanath is the biggest Buddhist stupa in Nepal and also a key pilgrimage point for thousands of Buddhist devotees , many from Tibetan origins. Hence not a Christmas tree nor a rustle of tinsel for miles.

We did find an open  birthday party  with free food for a senior Buddhist monk at one of the monasteries where the monastery was lit up in a fantastic array of fancy lights satisfying my thirst for Christmas decorations. The free buffet even included  crispy fried chicken!!
Unfortunately the dodgy lunch sparked off 24 hours of vomiting and diahorrea for both me and Boyd ( the kids as usual were untouched). 48hours later and filled with immodium we escaped for Goa
